SLA Video Productions is a video production company that produces video content with the focus on the mental and physical wellness of older adults.

We work with organizations that serve the older adult community, and we produce stories that encourage kindness, socialization, and education - as well as provide entertainment. During an event we were filming, we were approached by several grandparents to have someone speak to gender identity - they had grandchildren who were questioning their identity and wanted to understand how to help and support them. We wanted to find someone who could actually speak from their own experience and we were introduced to MARY. A zoom call with Mary was all it took for us to realize that there was so much more to be learned from her personal story and so much at stake with all the misinformation about trans people.

We believe that Mary's personal story has the power to educate and inspire not only grandparents but also younger generations who are questioning their gender identity. With the support of the Andy Warhol Foundation via Spaces Gallery in Cleveland, we were able to secure a small grant to create a documentary centered around Mary's experiences.

This documentary aims to provide a deep understanding of gender identity issues and offer guidance to grandparents on how to support their grandchildren. We strongly believe that by sharing Mary's journey, we can foster empathy, acceptance, and inclusivity within families and communities. We are actively seeking other small funding opportunities to help us create more content that addresses the diverse experiences and challenges faced by transgender individuals and their families. Our dedication to this cause has already attracted the attention of an Ohio State Senator, who has agreed to be interviewed for our documentary as well as a host of educators. This collaboration will not only add credibility and authority to our project but also increase its potential for social impact.

Furthermore, we are committed to showcasing the finished documentary through film festivals and screenings, ensuring that Mary's story reaches a broader audience and sparks meaningful conversations about gender identity. By participating in these events, we aim to create awareness, challenge stereotypes, and promote understanding and acceptance of transgender individuals. We are determined to continue our journey of creating compelling content that sheds light on the experiences of transgender individuals. With the initial support from the Andy Warhol Foundation and the endorsement of an Ohio state Senator, we are confident in our ability to make a significant impact.
